Meet the Team - Colourist / Team Leader

Name – Ricky Jones
Job Role – Operations Team Leader / Colourist
Tell us about you – I’m 29 and live in a tiny village called Castle near Welshpool. I married a gorgeous girl when we were both just 22 and have had the BEST 8 years together since then. We have a beautiful 2-year-old girl and have a baby boy on the way Feb 2024! We also have a cute little Yorkie-poo dog who is 9 but still acts like a pup. So yeah, life’s busy, crazy but beautiful… so we wouldn’t change a thing. Both me and my wife are one of three (who also have toddlers) so when we get together with siblings it’s a total mad house.
Activities / Hobbies – I’m all about the easy life. I love relaxed movie weekends and will put off any “housey jobs” for as long as I can. Playing with my lil baby girl at home or taking her to the park, beach, bouncy castles, or on holiday is about as adventurous as I get. Spare time is a luxury with kids and dogs… which is why I like to binge TV shows when I get the chance!
I’m also a massive perfume / fragrance geek. I’ve loved perfumes since I was 15… Now I own roughly 220 of the best of the best fragrances in the world. No one smells better than me I’m afraid…unless I’m wearing some downright weird stuff…but at least I stand out from the crowd.
Favourite meal to indulge yourself in? – I love burgers ….. burgers burgers and more burgers is what I would live off. Onion rings, chips, chicken goujons and corn on the cob on the side. That’s my retirement plans right there.
Favourite Film – I love opposite ends of the scale. I’m a sucker for cheesy chick flicks but also war films. A few favourites would be Pretty Woman, how to lose a guy in 10 days, Mean girls, White chicks and then American sniper, Fury, The covenant and Hacksaw ridge. See told you it was total opposite genres.
About you in the company – I started here as print assistant back in 2015 and was told it was only a temporary position. But as the days and weeks went on I realised I actually really loved the people I worked with and I found the job to be a nice mix of interesting, fun yet not stressful. So I was sold! I requested a full time job and was thankfully given one. Since then I worked my way through screen printing, colour mixing, screen making, embellishment printing, plain order picking and auditing. For two years now I’ve worked as operations team leader ensuring everyone is busy, happy and working safely whilst reaching our daily targets. Every day is different and it’s a pleasure to be overseeing a happy department of hard workers. Bravo team!
What do you like best about working for Clever Baggers? – Many things but I’ll try keep it simple. I love the different jobs I do every day. Some days I’m busy making upwards of 20 different colours, other days I’m assisting the print team, signing off artwork for print runs, coaching new members of staff, driving forklifts, holding staff meeting and providing training, or a little bit of everything! Also the fixed hours are a blessing. I love how work doesn’t creep in to my evenings and weekends with my family. That’s a great advantage to working here.
Favourite product? – LOVE the extra large tote bag (LG-6240-10VNL) we’ve just launched. It’s enormous, sturdy and stylish. It’s definitely one I’ll be buying for my weekends at the beach with the kiddies.
Plain or Printed? – ️Come on, it has to be printed! More colours the better. I love multi coloured half tones blending together to make a bright, colourful, print. It just looks so cool.
