How to Create your Design for a School Tea Towel Print
Posted on: 26/05/2023, 07:00
We’ve sold you on the idea of creating a Class or School printed Tea Towel, and now you’re wondering how you can go around getting it designed and printed. Don’t worry, we’ve got you. Check out our step-by-step guide here.
Step 1:
Decide which type of tea-towel you would like (see website for our full range of tea towels). Then before you get the kids drawing their portraits, we recommend giving the pupils a piece of paper correct to size. This is to ensure that we can fit each pupil on the tea-towel proportionately. Please see the table below for an example of what the size of each portrait should be depending on class/school size.
Number of drawings | 40 | 84 | 104 | 135 | 170 | 240 | 350 |
Size of picture | 7cm | 5.5 cm | 4.5 cm | 4 cm | 3.5 cm | 3 cm | 2.5 cm |
x | x | x | x | x | x | x | |
7cm | 5.5 cm | 4.5 cm | 5 cm | 3.5 cm | 3 cm | 2.5 cm |
Step 2:
Now provide each child with the appropriate size piece of paper & then it’s time to get them drawing!
Tip: It is better if each child works with the same type of pen, this way each drawing will have equal impact. We recommend a good black fibre pen, preferably no less than 0.8mm in thickness. Pencil or crayon drawings will not reproduce well when it comes to printing your design.
If you have young children that would struggle to draw a portrait of themselves, you could do handprints or even footprints, although you may need to reduce the size of the prints on a computer or photocopier to fit them into the print area.
Step 3:
Once each child has done their drawing the next step is to arrange them. The easiest way to do this would be to use a large sheet of paper and mark out a 68 x 38 cm rectangle and start sticking down each of the children’s drawings. Then simply scan the design onto your computer.
If you would prefer to send us in the individual pictures, then our graphic design team can arrange them for you but there will be an additional charge for this service. Please discuss this with your sales advisor.
Tip: If you do not have any paper large enough, you could always tape a couple of pieces together and then mark out the print area.
Step 4:
Then all you need to do is complete a quote request form on our website for your chosen tea towel. You can find a “How to” guide of completing a quote request form here: YouTube Link. A proof of your artwork will be sent to you for your approval before the products are printed.
