Do’s and Don’ts of Printed Conference Bags

Every year we print thousands and thousands of tote bags for a number of businesses to take to various conferences across the globe. They usually get these printed with us to hand them out to conference attendees in hopes of securing a new customer, or at the very least to spread the word of their name and their business.

To help you decide on your giveaway conference bags this year, here is a list of our Do’s and Don’ts based on what we’ve seen ourselves:

1. Don’t be Basic
  1. The Classic Logo One Sided Tote is the O.G of conference tote bags. It’s a standard tote bag, with your logo printed large in the centre of the bag, you’ll get more points if you’ve chosen a different coloured tote bag to fit more with your theme, or if you have multiple colours in your logo.
  2. But at the end of the day, this is basic and is a go to for a lot of businesses as it’s easy, cheap and requires no thought process. Sure, the conference attendees will take one, but after being handed five similar looking tote bags from other stall holders, they all blur into one, and you become forgettable, and probably donated to charity.

2. Do be Creative
  1. You want to be eye catching, and having a bold and creative design is one way to do that. Use your businesses niche to be creative with your design. The idea of giving out these conference tote bags is you want to be remembered after the event ends, being creative in your design will help keep you fresh in the recipient's mind way after the event finishes.
  2. Idea: why not turn your branded conference tote bag into a colouring page for the conference attendees; supply them with fabric pens and get them to colour in your brand and encourage them to get creative. You could turn this into a competition and for the recipient to enter they must email you an image of their masterpiece. You have just secured a potential new customer to your mailing list.

3. Don’t Over Crowd
  1. Look we get it, you want these potential new customers to know e.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g about you to hopefully persuade them to become a customer, but please don’t print it onto the actual tote bag.  The only benefit we see from that is someone might possibly read it if they see it on a packed bus or tube and they haven’t got any other form of entertainment with them.
  2. Instead include an a5 sized hand out with your USP’s on inside the tote bag, that way you can give all the information to the customer, without overcrowding the tote bag. If you do want to include some information on the tote bag, remember it has two sides 😉.

4. Do Stand Out
  1. Easier said than done most times, but it can be really something simple like having a different bag colour than the standard natural or black. You can keep the design simple while standing out by the colour of the bag, chances are the recipient will more than likely reuse this bag again.
  2. Another option to stand out amongst all these event bags is to choose a different shaped bag. You can choose a bag that fits your brand. Does your brand promote activeness? Choose a musette bag, do you own a drinks brand? Choose a bottle bag, you’re a new healthy snack brand? Why not opt for a smaller tote that the recipient can re-use as a lunch bag. A Fashion Brand? Go for a large canvas shopper.

It’s easy to fall into the crowd with your giveaways at these types of events, but if you follow our Do’s and avoid our Don’ts, you’ll be sure to be rememberable long after the event has ended.
