The Clever Baggers - the true story So why are we 'Clever Baggers'? Well some sixteen years ago we started off believing that the cotton bag was a 'good thing', a better, more environmentally friendly alternative to the tons of plastic/polythene bags that are given away and subsequently thrown away each year. The thought of all the wasted energy and resources led us to think that this was not a 'good thing' and very definitely not clever so we set about finding a way of being able to produce long-life, re-usable, and bio-degradable cotton bags for a sensible price. Once we'd done this, we sat back and thought 'now that's clever'. What we have in our web shop is a collection of plain bags which, due to so many people wanting small quantities to apply their own designs onto (either by using textile paints, heat transfer printing, or silk screen printing), together with some printed bags with designs either created by us, or by some up and coming young designers whom we like and want to encourage. We are based in Welshpool, a Welsh border town in particular note as it holds the largest sheep market in Europe! Monday is market day and it's often difficult to find people in the town talking English as so much Welsh is still spoken here and in the beautiful surrounding countryside. However, please don't think that we're 'in the sticks', far way from civilization and not aware of what goes on in the 'real world'. We’re only 50 minutes away from Birmingham and 90 minutes from Manchester - yes of course these times assume you've got one of those modern newfangled vehicles that don't rely on an ox or horse to pull it, but we are really best described as being in the 'West Midlands'
